Community Shop
The Emmaus Cambridge Community shop is open during the following hours:-
Monday to Saturday 8.30 am to 5pm (8pm Wednesday only). Please note that we do close between 1 and 2pm on a Monday only for the weekly community meeting which enables everyone to come together and discuss issues which relate to the community.
What We Sell
The Emmaus Cambridge shop is an Aladdin's cave full of treasures! The following is just a selection of what can be found here:-
- Bicycles
- Books
- Bric a brac
- Electrical items, including cookers, fridges, washing machines, televisions and hi-fis
- Furniture
- Music (records, cds cassettes) and videos
- Soft furnishings including bedding, curtains, towels
All our electrical goods are fully tested on site in our workshop, staffed by Companions and a fully qualified member of staff. Amongst the usual household furniture, bric-a-brac and electrical items nestle the quirky and unusual. We believe items sourced from our shop have been used in the Harry Potter films - it is always worth a visit as you never know what you will find!
New and Bespoke Furniture
Alongside our enormous range of refurbished goods we also stock a wide range of pine and hard wood furniture manufactured on site in our woodwork shop. Companions are taught woodworking skills by a fully qualified staff member and can produce a variety of flat pack and bespoke furniture, all of which can be stained and finished to customer requirements.
We offer a delivery service for a small charge.
Help For People in Receipt of Benefits
We do offer a discount on basic household items for people in receipt of Job Seeker's Allowance or Income Support, or for people with a referral letter from an apprpriate agency. If you are in a position to take advantage of this, please bring proof of your entitlement with you when you come to the shop.
