New Chair for Emmaus Cambridge
Emmaus Cambridge has welcomed Diane Docherty to the role of Chair following former Cambridge Mayor John Durrant's resignation to spend more time concentrating on his work with fellow homelessness charity Newmarket Open Door.
Diane has a strong interest in the welfare of homeless people and a proven track record of working to help homeless people to get back on their feet. Being part of Emmaus Cambridge's team is a new and exciting role for her and she is more than happy to get involved with the day to day activities of the charity's second hand warehouse just off the A10 at Landbeach. "John Durrant is a hard act to follow" she said, "but he and the other Trustees have built a firm foundation for the Community and I am looking forward to working with everyone in the Emmaus movement to support the Community and others who may struggle financially. Many people are not yet aware of just how much Emmaus has to offer at its warehouse and we need to get the message across." The Emmaus Cambridge shop is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
The Emmaus Cambridge Trustee Board comes from all sorts of backgrounds but the one common element is their passion to work alongside people who have found themselves homeless for whatever reason and to support them to rebuild their lives.
